ABOUT US
CAZA Collective was founded by Sonia Chavez with a clear mission: to help businesses across the diamond, gem, and jewelry industry hire the right people, strengthen their teams, and build better workplaces.
Sonia brings more than 20 years of experience in recruiting, staffing, and talent acquisition across both agency and corporate environments. Her career began in IT recruiting and later led her to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), where she led the Talent Acquisition team. During her time at GIA, Sonia developed a deep appreciation for the diamond, gem, and jewelry industry, along with a firsthand understanding of its unique hiring challenges, talent gaps, and workforce needs.
In September 2022, Sonia founded CAZA Collective. The name “CAZA,” inspired by her Latin heritage, means “hunt” in Spanish and reflects the recruiter’s pursuit of exceptional talent. While CAZA Collective was initially envisioned as a broader recruitment firm, Sonia quickly recognized a significant gap in the market: the diamond, gem, and jewelry industry lacked a specialized recruitment and HR partner that truly understood its people, businesses, and roles.
That focus became the foundation of CAZA Collective.

As CAZA Collective expanded, the need for broader HR support became clear. Pamela Fleming, VP of HR Advisory & Consulting, leads the firm’s HR advisory services, helping businesses strengthen their people operations, improve HR practices, support compliance needs, manage employee relations, and build more effective workplace processes.
Sonia also recognized the need for a broader industry resource that could support both employers and professionals beyond individual searches and HR engagements. This led to the development of CAZA Connect, a separate career and resource platform created for the diamond, gem, and jewelry industry. CAZA Connect provides job opportunities, career resources, employer visibility, industry education, and community connection to help strengthen the industry’s workforce.
Together, CAZA Collective and CAZA Connect support the industry through recruitment, HR guidance, career resources, and workforce development. CAZA Collective helps employers hire, manage, and build stronger teams, while CAZA Connect expands access to career opportunities, resources, and industry-specific support for professionals and employers alike.
